My name is Shawnelle, and I've been married to Lonny for twenty-some years. Our house rumbles with the thunder of five sons, and I wouldn't want it any other way. At any given time, there's a Lego creation on or under the table, basketball shoes by the back door, and action figures bobbing in the bath. I've been proposed to five times by five sweet, blond boys. "Got anything to eat, Mom?" is our catch phrase. And yes, strange things do show up in the deep barrel of my washing machine.
I'm headlong into my twelfth year of hometeaching. This year is different. I have one boy at college, one boy at public middle school, and three little boys at home. The time we share is precious.
Two years ago, I stretched from writing a yearly Christmas letter to writing inspirational stories for anthologies and magazines. Glory to God! He allows me to care for my bustling family during the day, but when night falls, it's just me, the Lord, and the gentle clack of my keyboard. I write about real life. Marriage. Family. Friendships. I delight to see God in the small stuff. Not nestled in the blessing, but creating it. He's always there. At the center.
Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Psalm 111:2
I want to ponder. I want to reflect. I want to see the Lord's works in the rare hush and in the more-than-likely breathless whirlwind that's my life.
Thanks for being here. I hope that in the words of this blog, you'll see His works, too.
